JAKARTA Swedish manufacturer Polestar has hit the global automotive market again by introducing its newest flagship premium electric sedan, Polestar 5. Taking inspiration from the concept of Precept 2020, this high-performance four-door sedan comes as a flagship model that is ready to challenge the dominance of premium electric cars.

Polestar 5 comes with an elegant, long, and muscular design and with a low proportion, the car successfully combines a charming design with a high level of comfort.

Polestar 5 brings a future to the present. Our vision for Polestar design, technology, and sustainability direction is no longer a dream, but a reality that our customers can buy. With a pure Scandinavian design inside and outside, unique platforms, powerful motors, advanced chassis, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable materials realized, Polestar 5 is a guiding star for industry and is Polestar's mainstay," said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller, quoted from the manufacturer's media space, Tuesday, September 9.

One of the unique features of Polestar 5 is the placement of its intelligent battery. The battery is placed under the floor of the car with a special cut on the back of the front seat, which allows the back seat to be positioned lower to provide a wider headspace. The car is designed as a four-passer's car, although the back middle seat can be used for the fifth person in an emergency.

Polestar 5 is offered in two variants: Dual Motor and Performance. Both use the dual configuration of all-wheel drive motors (AWD), but with different outputs.

Polestar 5 uses an internally developed electric motor, which accounts for up to 450 kW and 660 Nm. This power makes the total Polestar 5 Performance output reach 650 kW and torque 1.015 Nm. As a result, Polestar 5 Performance is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/hour in just 3.2 seconds, while the 550 kW-powered dual motor version takes 3.9 seconds for the same test. Both versions are electronically limited to a speed of 250 km/hour.

The 800 V' electrical architecture, which was first used on Polestar vehicles, helped achieve these impressive figures and allowed Polestar 5 to charge up to 350 kW on the appropriate DC chargers. Battery charging from 10-80 percent can be completed in just 22 minutes.

To increase efficiency, the Polestar 5 rear motor can be disabled. With this feature, Polestar 5 Dual Motor can cover a distance of up to 670 km (WLTP) with a single charge, while Polestar 5 Performance is able to cover up to 565 km (WLTP).

Polestar 5 Dual Motor (550 kW, 812 Nm) can already be ordered at a launch price of 119,900 euros (equivalent to IDR 2.3 billion). Meanwhile, Polestar 5 Performance (650 kW, 1,015 Nm) is available at a launch price of 142,900 euros (equivalent to IDR 2.7 billion).
