Aston Martin Boss Presses Manual Transmission Is Still Very Important

JAKARTA - Cars with manual transmission options are starting to be abandoned because automatic options are claimed to have practicality and ease of driving. However, it doesn't just leave the car with three pedals.

Manual transmission is still quite popular with users of four-wheeled vehicles around the world, especially for sports car owners, thus increasing the pleasure of driving.

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark said the choice of manual transmission is still very important today to please sports car enthusiasts and supercars around the world.

"To gain a sporty and pure sports car experience, we need a manual," Hallmark said as quoted by Motor1, Tuesday, February 4.

Hallmark added that it is open to adding manual transmission options within existing ranks, such as Vantage or other models after successfully launching Valour and Valiant with three pedals.

"We have one, but for Vantage it has to look different," added Hallmark.

Thus, this British manufacturer will use a similar approach like Porsche in the future. Porsche proves that manuals are still selling well on the market with the 911 GT3 and S/T models that have high demand.

Previously, Aston Martin had launched two supercar models with three pedal transmissions namely Valour and Valiant. Both cars are available on a limited basis in the global market.

Aston Martin Valour was present to celebrate the factory's 110th anniversary in mid-2023, offering a luxurious design combined with a wild performance of the legendary V12 engine.

This car is only available as many as 110 units or the same number as Aston Martin's age at that time.

Taking the engine from DBS 770, Valour is equipped with a 5.2 liter V12 runway that can remove 714 hp and 752 Nm torque with rear wheels driving in collaboration with six acceleration manual transmission.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin introduced Valiant in the middle of last year with its development involving two F1 world champions, Fernando Alonso.

Aston Martin Valiant is presented super-exclusively with a total production of only 38 units in the world with a design language resembling Valour.

The supercar is equipped with a V12 5.2 liter twin-turbo engine paired with manual transmission of 6 acceleration and rear wheels, so it has 735 hp and 753 Nm wild torque.
