The Roewe D7 DMH Sedan Breaks The World Record Of PHEV Tempuh Distance

SAIC's Roewe brand has set a Guinness world record for the furthest distance traveled by a Plug in Hybrid (PHEV). With the full tank and full battery, the car managed to cover a distance of 2208 kilometers with an average fuel consumption of 2.49 liters per 100 kilometers.

CarNewsChina reported, SAIC announced this feat on October 28, joining brand ranks such as BYD, Geely, and Chery, which now have a PHEV fleet with a combined distance of more than 2000 kilometers.

The Guinness world record was broken by the Roewe D7 DMH sedan for four days, with a travel route from Lanzhou to Urumqi. On the way, the car passed Jiayuguan, Dunhuang, Turpan, and several other places. It should be noted that Turpan is often used by Chinese car manufacturers to test cars in hot conditions, because it is known to have the hottest temperatures recorded in the city.

Although complete details about the condition of the route and testing do not appear to have been announced, there is a temperature difference of 30 degrees between the night and the day. The lowest temperature found is -8 degC, and there is also a difference in altitude of 1,600 meters.

Roewe D7 DMH has been available since November 2023. It is not yet entirely clear whether the record was broken by an existing PHEV car or a new variant. According to information released for the record, the 1.5 liter engine on which the system is based has 43 percent thermal efficiency and an ultra-high compression ratio of 16:1. It is likely that this record comes from the new version of the Roewe D7 DMH test due to the long combined D7 DMH distance only registered 1400 km using CLTC measurements.

Furthermore, this engine operates in the most fuel-efficient condition of more than 85 percent of the time and adjusts optimal working mode according to the working conditions of all vehicles. This is a natural aspiration engine with a maximum power of 82 kW and torques up to 135 Nm.

This machine is paired with a coaxial P1 driving unit, which reduces the number of teeth by two. The Gearbox is a 1-speed DHT hybrid transmission. Installed on the front axis, the electric motor has a maximum power of 150 kW and can generate a 330 Nm torque.

Roewe D7 is 4890 mm long, 1890 mm wide, and 1510 mm high and has 2810mm wheelbase.
