Mitsubishi Ready To Show Off The Latest SUV Concept At PIMS 2024, Pajero Sport Successor?

JAKARTA Mitsubishi Motors is ready to participate in one of the largest automotive events in the Philippines, the Philippines International Motor Show (PIMS) 2024, which will be held on October 24-27. In this exhibition, Mitsubishi is rumored to be launching a new, highly anticipated model.

Reporting from Auto Industry, Wednesday, October 2, the manufacturer with the three diamond logo will introduce the latest 7-SEATER SUV in a world premiere. They have also provided a leaked design that hints at the presence of the model.

Two teaser images released show the front and back of this car's silhouette. Although its official name is still kept secret, Mitsubishi provides clues through its official website by calling the model a 'DST Concept'. Many have speculated that this SUV could be the successor to the latest generation of Pajero Sport, or known as Montero Sport in the Philippines.

Mitsubishi Motors also confirmed that this concept will reflect their vision for the future of the Southeast Asian market.

"This new concept reflects our vision of delivering the best quality vehicles to the ASEAN region, and we are excited to be able to introduce them for the first time in the Philippines," said Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation President & CEO Ritsu Imada.

One image shows a design line at the back door shorter than usual, hinting that the size of this SUV will be more compact than Pajero Sport before. The front of the car adopts the Mitsubishi XForce design, with futuristic LED lights and an Outlander-inspired grip. The overall design of this 7-SEAter SUV looks more assertive and boxy compared to other models.

Many predict that Pajero Sport's latest generation will use a platform from the sixth-generation Triton, which debuted last year. Although technical specifications have not been officially announced, it is likely that this SUV will retain flagship engines such as 4D56 gasoline with 136 ps of power and 324 Nm of torque, or an 181 ps of diesel variant and 430 Nm of torque, as used in the Pajero Sport facelift.
