JAKARTA - The smart, an automotive brand owned by Mercedes-Benz and Geely, officially introduces its newest model named #5. This car marks brand steps in moving more advanced in future mobility in the premium medium SUV segment.

Just like #1 and #3, Smart #5 also offers a number of advanced technologies such as ADAS, efficient electric drive, and puts functionality forward as an SUV.

Smart European CEO Dirk Adelmann said the presence of the model also reflects the brand's vision of occupying the latest segment by offering leading quality and innovation.

"This vehicle not only represents a new premium level for smart vehicles but also opportunities to explore new possibilities in the field of electric mobility," Adelmann said on the brand's official website, Thursday, August 29.

Designed by Mercedes-Benz, this car comes with a distinctive design such as a panoramic roof of the halo, frameless doors, and a short front and rear overhang. Smart #5 has a wheelbase of 2,900 mm with a length of 4,705 mm.

The exterior design is very different from #1 and #3 with oval headlights on front and back as well as the 'Smart' logo adorning the D pillar. In order to highlight the premium impression, the rearview mirror is given a touch of two-tone and a rim cover with the 'Smart' logo that can be perpendicular even though the wheels rotate.

The brand is also offered with exclusive 'Adventures Collection' by combining premium quality, practical innovation, and multifunction with a number of features including the roof light bar, electric trailer hitch, and the bottom guard of the car body.

Having a large dimension, the interior is offered in a field and modern manner which has a number of advanced features such as augmented reality head-up 25.6 inches, 10.3 inches of instrument LCD screen, and 2.5K quality 13-inch AMOLED screen.

On the back there is a leather seat with a comfortable headspace with heating features, adjustment of armchair, electric sunshield, and LED readout lights such as on an airplane with a First Class setting.

Smart also gives luxury accents to eek wood trims and curved design elements and lonjongs that highlight premium characters on their interiors.

Just like other luxury cars, the #5 interior is decorated with a 256 color ambient light and all seats have king size, queen size, and single bedrooms in the cockpit. The entertainment system is equipped with an internal projector paired with a 20-speaker Signal Sound System Sennhyiser audio system.

Functionality is also offered in this car by having a 72 liter trunk and a storage area of up to 1,530 liters when the back seat is folded.

This car is supported by a 800V voltage platform compatible with a 100 kWh battery, so it can provide a distance of 740 km and is capable of charging from 10 to 80 percent in 15 minutes with DC charging.

The additional feature on Smart #5 is that there are a number of driving modes, such as Adaptive, Sand, Snow, Mud, and Rock.

However, the manufacturer has not disclosed the certainty of the price. However, Smart #5 will certainly be sent to the European market starting early next year.
