JAKARTA - Car manufacturers from China continue to come to Indonesia. Recently, there is Zeekr, a premium brand from Geely Holding Group, which collaborates with PT Premium Auto Prima, as a Brand Holder Agent (APM) for the brand in Indonesia.

Not only one, this Chinese brand will launch two models at once, namely Zeekr X and Zeekr 009, which have also been introduced in Thailand. But the car being carried is still a Complete Built Up (CBU) from China.

So will the brands playing in the premium and high end segments plan a local assembly facility? Given that several brands from China have also done this.

Head of the SEA Zeekr Region Alex Bao Zhuangfei revealed that it is currently being studied about local assembly, in the masterplan there but not in the near future.

"The implementation may not be implemented in the near future, but it is being studied," he said, when met some time ago in Jakarta.

Alex said the implementation could be around 2 to 3 years into the future, but now it must start one year to prepare and conduct studies.

"We have to consider because Zeekr is a Premium brand, so the volume is not as big as the mass market," he added.

On the same occasion, Managing Director of PT Premium Auto Prima JinHong Lin Darwin said it had not yet arrived (local workers), because first we signed cooperation as distributors.

"The car entered Indonesia first, we have started to study the feasibility study of the assembly industry in Indonesia. Not only Indonesia, but Zeekr has also studied in several neighboring countries such as Thailand and Malaysia," said JinHong Lin Darwin.
