JAKARTA - Great Wall Motor (GWM), a well-known automotive company from China, will soon launch the 500 Hi4-Z Tank as the latest plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicle.

According to CarNewsChina, Wednesday, April 17, the SUV will receive a large battery compared to the previous one and have the latest engine.

Visually, this car has similarities to other versions of the 500 Tank, but the difference is only in the latest Hi4-Z badge. The SUV measures a length of 5,078 mm, a width of 1,934 mm, a height of 1,905 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.

According to documents from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the 500 Hi4-Z Tank has a larger battery size of 59.05 kWh or one of the largest for PHEV cars. As a comparison, the previous version, namely Hi4-T, has a battery with a capacity of 37.1 kWh.

The 59.05 kWh battery is made of Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) material developed by the Svolt battery supplier. Thus, the car has a distance of pure electricity up to 201 km and weighs 2,980 kg.

Furthermore, GWM gave the car the latest Miller Cycle E20NB engine which has a power of 185 kW and a peak torque of 380 Nm. This large enough power is not followed by impressive fuel efficiency by only reaching 8.6 l/100 km, a decrease from 8.8 l/100 km.

Then, the conventional engine is combined with a 120 kW electric motor and 400 Nm torque drives the front wheels. When combined with the ICE engine, the 500 Hi4-Z Tank has a total power output of up to 300 kW and 700 Nm torque.

Thus, this car can run at the highest speed up to 205 km/h. This increases significantly compared to the Hi4-T which only reaches 180 km/hour.

It is also reported that Hi4-Z will come with the option to drive all wheels that are more aggressive. It is also possible that this car will use a drivetrain system that has been embedded in the Hi4-T before.
