Mazda 6 Stop Production, Come Back With An Electrification Version?

JAKARTA - In January, Mazda decided to stop production of Mazda 6 from March to May 2024. The sale of this model in Japan will also end in the same period.

However, the lovers of Mazda 6 need not worry. Mazda intends to bring back this model in the electrification version.

Quoted from Carscoops, Mazda has filed a patent for the name "Mazda 6e" in Europe. This sparked rumors that this luxury model will return with environmentally friendly technology.

Previously, Mazda had never added the letter "e" to the existing vehicle model. However, this naming strategy could have changed, and Mazda could have used it for various electric vehicle (EV) models, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Mazda also registered the trademark of the "6e" logo featuring metal-style gradients with a premium touch. Unfortunately, information about this model is still very limited.

Rumors about Mazda 6's successor have been circulating for a long time. The latest rumors say that the model will share a platform with CX-60, so it can be presented in ICE-engined and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions.

In Indonesia, Mazda 6 recorded sales of 122 units in 2023. This model is available in two variants, namely Elite Sedan with 62 sales, and Elite Estate with 60 units, based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).

Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) sells Mazda 6 in Indonesia at prices ranging from IDR 695.5 million for the standard Sedan and Estate versions, as well as IDR 706.6 million for the 20th Anniversary edition.
