KTB Considers Using Battery Swap For ECanter Trucks In Indonesia

JAKARTA - PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) will certainly launch an eCanter electric truck in Indonesia at the GIIAS 2024 event. The launch of this vehicle is the first electric truck to be present in the country.

As is known, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation is collaborating with a start-up from California, United States, namely Ample to build a battery replacement or swap system station. So will the system also be present in Indonesia?

"Mitsubishi Fuso always innovates, whether it is already ongoing, or in the future (swap batteries)," said Aji Jaya, Sales and Marketing Director of KTB, Friday, March 8.

Meanwhile, Bayu Aprizal, General Manager of the Product Strategy Division of PT. KTB revealed that Fuso has introduced battery swap technology for EV vehicles, including eCanters. Regarding the possibility of being implemented in Indonesia, it will be studied.

"Regarding the possibility that (a battery swab) will be implemented in Indonesia, we study and the launch time of some consumers from our partners has also questioned this," said Bayu.

However, he said that in order to bring the system to Indonesia, there would be several processes that would be carried out, and could not be carried out directly.

"Surely we have a process, we can't go directly. We survey infrastructure and all kinds of things if it is possible as long as it can support eCanter sales," said Bayu.

Of course, it would be interesting if this battery swap system would be present in Indonesia, considering that it would cut a lot of disbursement times.
