New EV Hatchbackugit Competition In Indonesia: MG4 EV Vs BYD Dolphin

JAKARTA - BYD, an automotive company from China officially released the price of its vehicle through the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024. One of the interesting vehicles presented by BYD is Dolphin.

This model will fill the electric-powered hatchback segment as well as enliven the environmentally friendly mobility share in Indonesia. However, Dolphin had to deal with other models from competing brands.

Previously, MG had brought the MG4 EV to the country since 2023. Earlier this year, the British brand announced local production for this model so the price would be competitive with other electric cars.

Both of them are newcomers to the Indonesian automotive industry, which model is the most superior? The following compares BYD Dolphin and MG4 EV based on VOI searches, Saturday, February 17:

Dimension

In terms of size, the MG4 EV has a wide dimension and is relieved to be able to accommodate urban mobility with a length of 4,287 mm, a width of 1,836 mm, a height of 1,516 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,705 mm.

Then, BYD Dolphin carries a more compact size with a length of 4,290 mm, a width of 1,770 mm, a height of 1,570 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

Electric Motor Performance

In terms of runways, MG4 EV is superior to its rivals. The hatchback is equipped with a rear-wheeled electric motor and produces up to 167 dk of power. Meanwhile, BYD Dolphin only has an electric motor with up to 70 dk.

Comparison Of Tempuh Distance

In terms of distance, MG4 EV is again superior by having a battery capacity of 51 kWh which produces a distance of up to 425 km in full battery state. Meanwhile, BYD Dolphin has a battery of 44.9 kWh which has a range capacity of up to 340 km.

Price

Both models have competitive price benchmarks with MG4 EVs having a higher price of IDR 433 million. Meanwhile, BYD Dolphin has a price slightly below it at IDR 425 million On The Road DKI Jakarta.

Conclusion

MG4 EV has a number of advantages but BYD Dolphin can be a nuisance by offering a variety of sophistication at a more affordable price.
