MG Spread New Electric Car Teaser That Launches On IIMS, New MG ES?

JAKARTA - MG Motor Indonesia will launch two electric car models at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), one of which is MG ES.

This is confirmed from the teaser through the Instagram page @mgmotor.id. In VOI's monitoring, there are three short videos and one of the videos shows off the name 'MG ES'.

"MG technology innovation is always advanced, we are never tired of trying and giving the best for everyone. Look what MG has to offer you at IIMS 2024," MG tweeted, quoted Monday, February 12.

This one car itself has been present several times at exhibitions in Indonesia, which is included in the station wagon segment. In addition, this car has also been sold in neighboring Thailand since 2023.

So what are the specifications in Thailand?

Design

Reflecting on the existing models in Thailand, this electric car comes with a new goal front and Light Curtain Design for a more stylish display, plus Roof Rail with a maximum load capacity of 75 kilograms. The station wagon design ensures a wide cabin space and baggage area of 1,367 liters. Its interior is elegantly decorated with an energetic blue strip, and leather seat with a denim texture design for a modern display and easy maintenance. The new design leather jockey is also equipped with Zero-G Seats ergonomic technology for ideal passengers for long-distance travel.

Platform

The electric MG ES presents the most advanced transmission platform with a smaller size and lighter weight but promises an efficiency of 53 percent higher. The new generation is equipped with 8 layer hair pin permanent magnetic synchronous motors (PMSMs) resulting in a maximum power of 177hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. With an increase in the thrust response which promises an acceleration rate of 15,000 rpm, the New MG ES is capable of traveling at a maximum speed of 185 km/hour. The model is also equipped with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) available at three levels: high, medium, and low; and a rotating circle of only 5.95 meters.

Battery

New MG ES is equipped with a Lithium-ion Phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 51 kWh which is 22% lighter, plus a Liquid Cooling System for electric motors and batteries. Its battery is capable of traveling a maximum distance of 412 kilometers with a single full charge, according to the standard (NEDC), and is compatible with Quick Charge (from 0 to 80 percent) in about 40 minutes at 87 kWh) and Normal Charging (from 0 to 100 percent) within about 7.15 hours at 6.6 kWh to 11 kWh via MG HOME CHARGER). The model is also equipped with Vehicle to Load (V2L) which allows the vehicle to function as a power source, channeling the power of regular AC to other equipment at a power of 2,200 watts.

Regarding the price, in Thailand this car is priced at 959,000 baths or around Rp417 million. How much is the right price for the Indonesian market?
