JAKARTA - A Porsche 911 GT2 unit in 1996 will soon be auctioned off RM Sotheby,s in Paris, France on Wednesday, January 31.

This car is one of only 194 Porsche 911 GT2 units that have been produced for the highway version. Now, after experiencing a thorough restoration by Porsche expert Christian ABT Classic at Kempten, Germany, this car is ready to look for a new owner.

Complete restoration includes engine reconstruction, reconstruction of suspensions with shock absorber Bilstein and Eibbac spring, as well as exterior repainting.

With a distance of 136,000 kilometers, this Porsche 911 GT2 has a stunning metallic black exterior beauty, while its interior is coated with matching black skin.

Launching the RM Sotheby's page, Tuesday, January 30, the 993 generation Porsche 911 features the last "Mezger" engine that uses air conditioning, a characteristic that has been inherent since its introduction to the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Despite a remarkable 30-year increase, the 993-generation Porsche 911 retains its basic architecture: six-cylinder air conditioning boxer with a twin overhead cam.

The uniqueness of the engine makes the 993 generation Porsche 993 one of the most popular models in the company's history, especially the legendary 911 GT2 variant as the peak of air-cooled car performance.

GT2 was actually born as a by-product of a racing program, which requires highway variants to meet homologation standards. Designed to master the FIA GT2 class, Porsche made modifications to 911 Turbo 933, making it lighter to 200 kilograms at the expense of most comfort, except for the driving components of all vital wheels. The windshield is thinner, while the engine and door hoods are made of light aluminum.

The fully restored 3.6 liter flat-six engine is capable of generating 430 dk of power, thanks to the peak boost of the KKK K24 turbocharger twin. As a result, the 0-100 km/hour acceleration can be achieved in about four seconds, while the highest speed reaches nearly 300 km/hour.

With its rich history, impressive performance, and careful restored conditions, the Porsche 911 GT2 1996 is predicted to be the target of collectors and fans of classic sports cars.
