Volkswagen Launches Latest Golf, Offers Efficient PHEV Variant

JAKARTA - This year, the Golf model touched the age of 50. To celebrate this phenomenal achievement, Volkswagen as a producer presents a version of the upgrade that includes new technology and the efficiency of the driving system.

Thomas Schafer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said the model had made a tremendous contribution to the company for half a century and it was hoped that this latest Golf could satisfy the needs of its users.

"This is what we are now building in a new evolutionary stage, with higher efficiency, comfort and quality as well as a new operating concept," Schafer said on the brand's official website, Wednesday, January 24.

Changes to this model include the latest front and back lights as well as a fresher front display than ever. One that stands out is the VW logo that can turn on for the first time on the Golf model.

Then, there will also be a light for the IQ.Light LED matrix with the best quality which can provide a lighting range of up to 500 m. The back light is also equipped with a 3D IQ.Light LED on both sides with a design update.

Switching to the inside, the car is equipped with an intuitive infotainment system as well as a free-standing touch screen with a size of up to 32.8 cm. It has a touch-shifting feature that can regulate temperature and volume control. In addition, the infotainment has been integrated with ChatGPT.

The latest is the enhanced multi-functional steering wheel and the latest IDA voice assistant. The IDA system is not only useful for controlling various functions such as AC, telephone, or navigation, but can also access online information from all fields.

Other advanced features were also presented in this VW flagship hatchback, consisting of an upgraded Park Assist Plus, useful for detecting parking spaces and starting the vehicle parking procedure properly.

Another advanced system is the View Area, which can display a 360-degree circumference created by combining four cameras, and the surrounding display can be seen on the infotainment touch screen.

VW offers nine different machine options, consisting of milli-hybrid (eTSI), plug-in hybrid (eHhybrid or GTE/PHEV), turbocharged gasoline (TSI), and turbocharged diesel (TDI) will be available for production lines at the launch stage.

For PHEV systems, the hatchback can offer up to 100 km of electric range. Meanwhile, the mild-hybrid version will be equipped with a 48V battery that offers impressive fuel efficiency.

Unfortunately, the German manufacturer did not disclose the exact price and timing of the launch of the model. For 50 years, Volkswagen has produced as many as 37 million Golf units consisting of eight generations across the global market.
