Starlight, The First Electric Sedan From Wuling Launches December 6

JAKARTA - Opening pre-sales at the Guangzhou Auto Show last November, the Wuling Starlight of SGMW will enter the local Chinese market on December 6.

Quoted from the Carnewschina page, Tuesday, December 5, the Wuling Starlight (Xingguang in Chinese) sedan comes by offering the choice of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Later, the first shipment will include customers who want PHEV, and pure electric cars will follow in early 2024, with sales people at 93,800 to 109,800 yuan or around Rp200 million to Rp238 million.

As is known, the Starlight sedan comes with a length of 4835 mm, 1860 mm wide and 1515 mm high with a wheelbase distance of 2800 mm. This EV has a 75 kW motorbike from ESC10 and Qianyi Tech. The highest speed is 150 km/hour. The battery embedded is lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP). Meanwhile, the battery capacity will be revealed later.

Furthermore, the PHEV version will carry an LFP battery supplied by Zenergy and Huating Power and its capacity has not yet been revealed. However, the PHEV version will use a 100 kW motor from Inboer Electric Co., Ltd. The 78 kW internal combustion engine comes from Liuzhou Saike Tech. The entry-level PHEV battery will be 9.5 kWh, suitable for a 70 km CLTC range, and the top trim level will have a 20.5 kWh package that is suitable for a BEV range of only 150 km.

Entering the cabin, this car will be equipped with a large screen as a control center measuring 15.6 inches and an 8.8 instrument panel in front of the driver. Meanwhile, the matter of Wuling Starlight accommodation has a 540L baggage room, and 33L's additional room is under the carpet. Wuling Starlight is SGMW's answer to BYD Qin Plus, which will be the main competitor in China.
