JAKARTA - Opel has finally revealed the concept of its newest electric car, the Opel Experimental with a design not much different from the photos circulating so far.

The Experimental Opel was first introduced to the public at the Munich Motor Show (IAA Mobility 2023), Monday, September 4. This concept provides an interesting picture of the direction Opel electric cars will take in the future.

"Our booth visitors in Munich will see a clear vision of the direction of the Opel brand in the near future and the future. Meanwhile, Opel Experimental provides clues for the next round of our brand," said Opel CEO Florian Huettl, in the company's media space, September 4.

One of the most striking things about the Opel Experimental is its innovative and futuristic design. Outside it already looks stunning with the Opel logo running on the front and a thin back light that gives a futuristic impression.

This concept also features superior aerodynamics, featuring air cover at the front and back as well as an elongated back diffuser or shortening depending on driving conditions.

The shape of the rim is also striking with three zones, including a special pattern on tires made of recycled rubber, and not having a door handle. In addition, side-view mirrors also do not exist but are replaced by cameras that not only provide clearer views, but also integrate advanced technology into this concept car.

For the interior, the Opel Experimental presents a wide and functional cabin concept with the ability to hide the steering wheel when not used. This not only increases the space for movement in the cabin, but also creates a more modern feel.

Drivers can also access "Pure Experience" infotainments through configurable controls in the center console and voice commands supported by artificial intelligence.

Opel Experimental is based on a new STLA platform from its parent company Stellantis. The platform is compatible with single and double electric motors, while the battery will offer up to 700 km of electric range.
