SOUTH TANGERANG - Since launching the MG4 EV in the country, Morris Garage (MG) has been committed to contributing to presenting electric-powered vehicles in Indonesia.

Currently, MG has just presented MG4 EV as its flagship model in the realm of electrification. Even though it has brought in MG ZS EV at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the manufacturer has not planned to sell it in the near future.

In order to accelerate the production of electric vehicles, MG Motor Indonesia has plans to build assembly facilities in the country for the future.

By localizing the production of MG vehicles, it is hoped that this will be key to increasing sales in Southeast Asia and the company will expand its global market.

Director of Marketing and Public Relations of MG Motor Indonesia, Arief Syarifudin, said that his party has the aim of building a factory in Indonesia in order to bring MG closer to Indonesian consumers through the national supply chain.

"This decision is a form of our dedication to continuing to invest and grow with the people of Indonesia," said Arief at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, Thursday, August 17.

In addition, the construction of local factories in Indonesia also received support from the government which encouraged the opening of factories to be realized immediately.

"Thanks to local factories, MG is also ambitious to create jobs and open up opportunities for cooperation with local vendors, so they participate in supporting national economic growth," said Arief.

MG plans that the construction of facility assembly will begin in early 2024. Thus, this can accelerate the localization of electric vehicles so that MG electric vehicles will later receive incentives from the government.

This plan is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and human resource development in Indonesia. The British manufacturer has also showcased the ranks of electric vehicles such as MG4 EV and New MG ZS EV at the GIIAS 2023 event. The two EVs have achieved the highest level of security by obtaining five stars from the Euro ANCAP institution.

MG Motor Indonesia has set prices starting at IDR 649.9 million for MG4 EV. In Indonesia, MG provides two different variants for this model, namely Ignite and Magnify.
