JAKARTA - An automotive manufacturer from China, BYD, is known as a car brand with the latest and most advanced technology at affordable prices. BYD is also developing its global market by launching vehicles in Asia, Oceania, and Europe. One of the newest BYD models launched in Europe is BYD Dolphin.

BYD Dolphin is an entry-level car produced by this Chinese car manufacturer. Despite being an entry-level car, BYD Dolphin has the leading technology as an electric vehicle.

BYD Dolphin is equipped with attractive features such as a 12.3-inch screen in the middle, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and various other safety features. However, BYD does not only offer these features.

According to an InsideEV report on Wednesday, June 21, BYD Dolphin is equipped with an electric motor mounted on the front. There are four variants offered, namely Active, Boost, Comfort, and Design. Active variants are capable of generating up to 94 dk of power.

If the customer is not satisfied with the Active variant, BYD also provides a Boost variant that has greater power, namely 174 dk, with an increase in the multi-link suspension component.

Both variants will be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 45 kWh. Active variants can cover a distance of up to 339 km, while Boost variants can cover a distance of up to 302 km in one charge according to WLTP calculations. These two variants also have the fastest AC 7 kW charging capability and 60 kW DC charging.

Meanwhile, the Comfort and Design variants have improved battery performance. Both are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 60.4 kWh and a fast charging capability of 88 kW. These two variants can cover a distance of up to 426 km according to the WLTP cycle.

The Comfort and Design variants also have electric motors that are powered by up to 201 dk, allowing this car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour within 7 seconds.

BYD Dolphin's electric hatchback will be sold in Europe at prices ranging from 29,990 euros, equivalent to 490.8 million rupiah. The car will also be available in the UK at a price of 25,800.

This dolphin-inspired car will be delivered to customers by the end of 2023. BYD Dolphin will be a competitor to the hatchback of Germany's giant automotive brand, Volkswagen ID.3.
