Towards Fully Electric Vehicles, How Is Lexus Prepared?

JAKARTA - All-New Lexus RZ Lexus is Lexus' latest electric SUV exhibited at Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2023. All New Lexus RZ is claimed to be a car capable of combining elements of Lexus Electrified, Limited Design, Lexus Driving Signature and Human Centered Technology.

This launch indicates that Lexus is starting to be fully prepared to produce electric cars in the future.

This was confirmed by Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor, Anton Jimmi Suwandi. He said that currently Lexus has reduced the production of gasoline-fueled cars. In fact, Lexus hopes that by 2025 Lexus will not produce cars with Internal Combustion Engine or conventional fuel in Indonesia.

"For now, there are only a few non-electrified models from Lexus. As soon as possible, we hope that if we can do 2025 in Indonesia, we will no longer produce non-electric models. Of course we are discussing it with the center. that," said Jimmi, after a press conference to VOI, Friday, March 10.

Of course what he said is in line with the program that the Lexus is currently running, which from 2030 the Lexus will fully produce the Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) model until finally in 2035 only the Electric Vehicle (EV) model.

"And also, Lexus' target to sell all of its PHEV models is 2030. Then, for 2035 only EVs. There are no more hybrids," added Jimmi.

Please note, Lexus has been producing non-fuel gasoline cars since 2005 through Lexus RX 400h. As the luxury car manufacturer develops, it continues to develop technology to provide electrification products that suit consumer needs.
