JAKARTA - The government has prepared an economic stimulus package worth Rp26.34 trillion to support national economic growth in the second semester of 2026.

The policy is aimed at maintaining people's purchasing power, encouraging mobility, strengthening the industrial sector, and anticipating the impact of global economic uncertainty.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto explained that the total stimulus prepared consisted of transportation incentives of Rp2.04 trillion, apprenticeship and vocational programs worth Rp6.26 trillion, and food assistance of Rp18.04 trillion.

He said the government continued to monitor the development of global geopolitical and geoeconomic conditions, which were still dynamic, including the situation in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz.

According to him, in the midst of this uncertainty, the government is trying to maintain domestic economic resilience through various proactive measures and policies to prevent and anticipate external risks.

"We continue to monitor developments in the Middle East. However, in other Indonesian situations, we need to continue to maintain the domestic economy and we must also take proactive steps to prevent and anticipate external risks that may arise," he said in a press conference, Monday, June 22.

Airlangga explained that one of the stimuli was the provision of a special final income tax (PPh) rate on royalties for writers of 1.5 percent, and the rate was much lower than the current provisions which ranged from 5 percent to 35 percent.

He added that the government also provided various transportation incentives to encourage community mobility during the school holidays and Christmas and New Year (Nataru).

The incentive includes the air transportation sector and other modes of transportation which will be further regulated by the Ministry of Transportation.

Airlangga said in response to global uncertainty, the government set an import tariff of 0 percent for LPG imports used by the petrochemical industry.

"With this, it is expected to increase the value of benefits for the economic sector by Rp. 2.25 trillion in the form of cost reductions for related industries and multiplier effects that can be encouraged," he explained.

In addition, he added that the government also provides zero percent import duty facilities for the import of plastic raw materials, and this step is expected to help maintain price stability, given that plastic is still one of the main components in the food packaging industry and various other consumer products.

Airlangga added that the government also provided incentives in the form of a reduction in import tariffs to 0 percent for the import of aircraft parts.

"This is also to support the aviation industry and the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) industry so that the competitiveness of the MRO industry can also be improved," he said.

Airlangga said that internship and vocational training programs would also continue to be implemented in the second semester of this year.

"Of course, this internship and vocational program will be encouraged to be implemented in the second half in the second semester, so that this can be a driver rather than the economy in the community," he explained.

Airlangga conveyed that based on President Prabowo Subianto's instructions, the food assistance program in the form of rice assistance of 10 kg will be resumed for three months, namely in July, August, and September 2026.

He explained that the program would reach around 33.24 million beneficiaries with a total budget of Rp. 17.54 trillion.

Furthermore, Airlangga said the government also continued the Food Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP) through the provision of soybean subsidies for tofu and tempe artisans with a subsidy amount of Rp2,000 per kilogram with a quota of 250,000 tons.

"We know that we buy the needs are 2.5 million tons per year, but we prepare 250,000 with a subsidy of 2,000/kg which will be given if the price of the other is above the reference purchase price," he explained.

According to Airlangga, all policies on food assistance and price stabilization have been discussed across ministries/institutions and have received direct approval from the President as part of efforts to maintain economic stability and public welfare in the midst of ongoing global challenges.
