Anggito Abimanyo Resigns From UGM Impact Of Plagiarism In Today's Memory, February 17, 2014

JAKARTA Memories of today, 11 years ago, February 17, 2014, Anggito Abimanyu resigned from the teaching staff of Gadjah Mada University (UGM). The resignation was due to Anggito plagiarizing other people's written works as his own.

Previously, plagiarism or plagiarism was as low as academia's mistakes. The integrity of a lecturer is judged by his work. Unlike Anggito. Instead of choosing to make his own work, he actually did an embarrassing act: plagiarizing his writing.

Plagiarism activities often tarnish a person's credibility. Lecturers, especially. Lecturers who should be considered role models are not even bad examples. A lecturer can dissect a problem so that a detailed solution comes out. The output could be in the form of a written paper: article.

Anggito also thought so. he was able to show his existence by writing in various national mass media. Anggito also sent an opinion entitled Disaster Insurance Idea. He believes that his article in Kompas's daily life has a big influence.

The article was published by Kompas on February 10, 2014. The actual writing is in accordance with Anggito's expectations. The readers of his work are piled up. The difference is they are not reading because Anggito's writing is stunning. Not because of Anggito's new idea.

The problem is that Anggito is considered to have plagiarized Hotbonar Sinaga's work, who in fact is a Lecturer on Risk Management and Insurance at the University of Indonesia (UI). Hotbonar has written the same theme on July 21, 2006.

The plagiarism case has surfaced to the public. Criticism to Anggito has emerged from everywhere. This condition is because Anggito is an important person in UGM. He is also the Director General (Dirjen) of Hajj and Umrah Implementation of the Ministry of Religion.

Anggito immediately admitted his mistake on February 17, 2014. He emphasized that he was negligent in citing references. Anggito also resigned as a UGM lecturer.

"In order to maintain UGM's credibility as a university with a commitment to the values of honesty, integrity and academic responsibility, I, Anggito Abhimanyu, have submitted a request for resignation as a UGM lecturer to the UGM Chancellor."

"This resignation is related to my article in Kompas Daily entitled 'Disaster Insurance Gas' on February 10, 2014. In writing the opinion, there has been an error in quoting references in a folder on a personal computer behind it is known to be work papers written by Hotbonar Sinaga and Munawar Kasan," said Anggito as quoted on the detik.com page, February 17, 2014.

Anggito's actions are categorized as embarrassing. Many were disappointed by Anggito. Hotbonar himself is clearly harmed. However, Hotbonar also revealed that he was actually proud that his writing was plagiarized by anggito.

Hotbonar joked that the plagiarism made him famous. Hotbonar revealed that Anggito had contacted him to apologize via text message. Hotbonar also regretted me. However, Anggito's business with UGM did not really care.

"I'm proud (to be plagiarized). With this plagiarism case, I became famous. He didn't read the article I wrote. At first, he didn't know the article he quoted from me.
