Jokowi EMPHASIZED That Indonesian Children Should Not Stunting In Today's Memory, April 8, 2018

JAKARTA Memories of today, six years ago, April 8, 2018, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that Indonesian children should not be edited, growth disorders due to malnutrition. He expressed this desire so that parents who have babies or toddlers regularly come to Posyandu. They will later receive counseling regarding child nutrition.

Previously, Jokowi had been criticized for handling malnutrition and stunting. Jokowi's government is considered incompetent at work. This criticism is because the Asmat area, Papua is an area classified as an Extraordinary Incident (KLB) of malnutrition.

The problem of malnutrition and stunting has tarnished the existence of the Indonesian government in the eyes of the world. Especially in the era of President Jokowi. Indonesia, which is known to have abundant food sources, still has problems with malnutrition.

Aib was wide open with the emergence of malnutrition and stunting problems in Asmat Regency in early January 2018. The problem of malnutrition has increased to 652 people, and 223 children have been declared malnourished. The stunting rate is relatively high.

Asmat Regent, Elisa Kambu took a stand. He set a bad nutrition as a KLB on January 9, 2018. The news then spread quickly. Criticism from here and there emerged. The president's narrative only cares about the island of Java and other islands have emerged.

The problem was then criticized by students. The head of Bem UI, Zaadit Taqwa, like preparing a'shock' for Jokowi at the 68th Anniversary of the UI Anniversary on February 2, 2018. The surprise was in the form of a yellow card directed to Jokowi during a speech.

Zaadit considered the action of the yellow card as a warning for Jokowi to think about the fate of the people, including immediately handling the matters of malnutrition that befell Asmat. The problem was deliberately raised because it was considered embarrassing.

"This is a form of our efforts to still be able to express our aspirations. In yellow card football, this is a warning to be more careful or take care of himself. Likewise for Pak Jokowi, this is a warning that students will not remain silent and to return to completing their unfinished tasks," said Zaadit a few days later as quoted by the BBC website, February 4, 2018.

President Jokowi also received criticism. He asked his staff to immediately clean up. He appealed to focus on completing the problem of malnutrition in Asmat. Even Jokowi also traveled to various corners of the archipelago. He took parents to the posyandu so that there would be no more Indonesian children who were stunted and malnourished.

Take for example when Jokowi made a working visit to Sukabumi, West Java on April 8, 2018. Jokowi specifically together with the ranks of the Ministry of Health reviewed the service of 5 Posyandu tables. The service is considered a strategy to reduce stunting in West Java.

These services include registration tables, weighing tables and high/length measurements, table recording results, counseling desks and nutrition services for Toddlers, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. Finally, health service tables (health checks and administration of worm medicine).

Jokowi also advised parents to actively bring infants or toddlers to come to Posyandu. The goal is that Indonesian children do not get stunted. Even parents can immediately consult directly with existing health cadres regarding child nutrition.

"Sekali bulan sekali anak-anak kita dibawa ke Posyandu untuk dipimbangan dan ditimbangkan tinggi badannya, dicatat secara rutin. Ini sekali penting bagi ibu-bua yang memiliki bayi dan Balita, agar kita bisa tahu anak kita itistunting atau tidak. Jangan sampai anak-anak kita kecil, (tinggi badannya) dwarf," tutur Presiden Joko Widodo, saat memulai kegiatan di hari kedua rangkaian kunjungan kerjaannya di Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, sebagaimana dikutip laman Kemkes.go.id, 8 April 2018.
