Joaquin Phoenix Answers 'Joker' Sequel Rumors

JAKARTA - Actor Joaquin Phoenix responded to the news that the Joker movie sequel was being carried out by the Warner Bros. production house. Ever since the film premiered, rumors about a sequel have been circulating on the internet. Phoenix himself did not confirm any plans regarding the new story of the film, instead, he asked how the development of Arthur's character was.

"Since we started shooting, you know... (Joker) is an interesting character," said Joaquin Phoenix at The Playlist on Tuesday, October 5.

"There are things we can do with this man and [develop] further. But are we going to do it? I don't know," he continued.

Earlier this year, director Todd Philips was reportedly working on a script for the prequel. On the other hand, there are reports that Warner Bros. is planning a Joker sequel.

The Joker film which was released in 2019 received positive appreciation from the audience. Phoenix also brought the Best Actor award at the 2020 Academy Awards.

Joaquin Phoenix is also said to have received a $50 million bid to return to star in Arthur Fleck in the two Joker films.

The Joker film tells the story of Arthur Fleck, a comedian who suffers from a neurological disorder. As a result, Arthur often laughs even in conditions that are not funny and is considered 'crazy' by those around him.

Starting from there, Arthur Fleck became a criminal in the city of Gotham and did criminal things.
