Backstreet Rookie Teaser Video Presents Ji Chang Wook And Kim Yoo Jung's Fierce Debate

JAKARTA - Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung were brought together in a new drama project entitled Backstreet Rookie. After releasing a photo of the script reading, SBS television station also released the first teaser featuring the two main characters on Thursday, May 7.

The video is only 30 seconds long, but their feud is so real. Ji Chang Wook who was tired asleep in the supermarket was approached by Kim Yoo Jung who then said; "We are a team?"

Yoo Jung is seen having fun in front of the supermarket cashier by throwing money in the air and Chang Wook just looks on with suspicion.

At the end of the video, Yoo Jung looks at Chang Wook asking; "Are you doubting me?" The two of them then approached each other and had a fierce battle in front of the supermarket shelf.

Backstreet Rookie is a Korean drama adapted from a webtoon entitled Convenience Store Saet Byul which became hits in their home country. Ji Chang Wook plays Choi Dae Hyun, a supermarket owner. Meanwhile, Kim Yoo Jung plays Jung Saet Byul who works part time at the supermarket.

At the first announcement of the main character, this drama received criticism from netizens for its vulgar story and was played by a young actress (Kim Yoo Jung). However, the criticism was not responded to because Kim Yoo Jung is already 20 years old which means that he is old enough to choose his own project.

Backstreet Rookie is directed by Lee Myung Woo, who previously produced the drama The Fiery Priest in 2019. This drama is full of comedic elements, so it is likely that Backstreet Rookie will have the same vibe.

The drama also marks Ji Chang Wook's return after starring in Melting Me Softly and Kim Yoo Jung with Clean With Passion For Now. Apart from them, names such as Han Sun Hwa, Solbin LABOUM, Lee Byung Joon, and Woo Hyun also appeared in this romantic comedy drama.

The first episode of Backstreet Rookie will air on June 12 following the end of The King: Eternal Monarch. This drama will air every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm South Korean time.
