JAKARTA - Netflix is rumored to be joining forces with director Yeon Sang Ho to create a new original series titled Hellbound. This series is adapted from the webtoon comic of the same name by Choi Gyu Seok which has received appreciation from readers. Of course, this live-action film will be highly anticipated.

Hellbound tells of a supernatural experience experienced by a group of people who receive messages from hell that appear unannounced. They will be judged to be sent to hell or heaven based on their deeds. The people living in this one area were in touch with each other through this message from hell.

Choi Gyu Seok as a creator will be involved in the adaptation of the series with Yeon Sang Ho. This is his second adapted work.

Previously, Gyu Seok's webtoon Songgot: The Piercer was adapted by the JTBC television channel into a drama of the same name in 2015. Earlier this year, he also became a script writer for the Korean drama The Cursed in early 2020.

Meanwhile, director Yeon Sang Ho is known for his new project, Train to Busan in 2016. In addition to working on a series with Netflix, Yeon Sang Ho is also preparing for the second part of Train to Busan, Peninsula which will be released this year. Peninsula tells the state of the city four years after the zombie apocalypse.

In the Peninsula story, Yeon Sang Ho invites Kang Dong Won and Lee Jung Hyun as the main characters. Currently, Peninsula is entering the post production stage and is scheduled for release this year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Peninsula production team has not been able to say much about the exact date.

Netflix also hasn't released a release date for the Hellbound adaptation. But it is planned that this film will be available exclusively for 190 countries.
