JAKARTA - Children's traditional games are a cultural heritage that is rich in the values of togetherness, creativity, and local wisdom.
In the midst of the widespread use of gadgets and digital games, the existence of games such as gobak sodor, hide and seek, congklak, and rope jumping is starting to be forgotten. In fact, this game is not only entertaining, but also educating and shaping children's character.
Responding to these challenges, the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) held a special car free day to commemorate National Children's Day 2025 in Jakarta, Sunday (20/7), featuring 23 types of traditional games.
"We have about 2,600 types of traditional games. If we revive them together and introduce them to the world, this could be an extraordinary cultural power. Children can learn to socialize, discuss, and most importantly, stay away from dependence on gadgets," said Deputy Head of BPIP, Rima Agristina, as quoted by ANTARA.
Rima emphasized that Indonesia is one of the countries with the most traditional games in the world. Therefore, preserving this culture is a shared task, especially to support the growth and development of children who are physically and mentally healthy.
This activity is the result of collaboration between BPIP and several ministries, such as the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Religion, and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. The event carries the theme "Anak Great, Indonesia Strong, Towards Indonesia Gold 2045."
