Wellness Tourism (fitness tourism) is considered successful as a mainstay and leading Indonesian tourism at the Osaka World Expo 2025 event which featured through the facilitation of the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) in an effort to strengthen Indonesia's tourism existence at the global level.

Taking place from May 26 to 31, 2025 on Yumeshima Island, Osaka, Japan, the Ministry of Tourism presents the Indonesian Pavilion which is filled with various interesting promotional activities. Starting from the promotion of local tourism products, including health tourism products (wellness tourism) which were appointed as the main seeds in Indonesia's tourism promotion at Osaka World Expo 2025.

Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said Indonesia's active participation in this event is believed to further improve Indonesia's tourism profile and exposure in the eyes of the international community. Especially in the special interest tourism (special interest tourism) aspects such as wellness tourism, gastronomi, and marine tourism.

"Indonesia tourism has a variety of special interest tours that are very worthy of getting wider exposures in order to attract the frequency of tourist visits of special international interest. Participation in this event can certainly increase the exposure of our special interest tourism products on the global stage," said Ni Made Ayu Marhini.

The results of this event were to bring together eleven Indonesian tourism industries with around 30-40 representatives of the tourism industry from Japan.

The activity was held in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Tokyo, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Osaka, Garuda Indonesia Japan Office, and the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC).

The implementation of this activity is estimated to bring the potential foreign exchange results of Rp. 142 billion or around 8.68 million US dollars.

Assistant Deputy for Marketing for Foreign Tourism II Kemenpar Yulia said the activity was an essential step to realize the target number for Japanese foreign tourists visiting Indonesia this year of 395,000 visits.

"We hope that organizing activities like this can be a catalyst for an increase in foreign tourists from Japan, which this year is targeted at 395 thousand visits," he said.
