JAKARTA - The trend of sports tourism and the concept of green sports are increasingly gaining a place in Indonesia, along with awareness of the importance of combining sports activities with environmental sustainability.
This initiative is not only aimed at improving achievements in the field of sports, but also supporting tourism as well as promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
In this spirit, Chandra Asri Group, Barito Pacific Group, and Barito Renewables participated in supporting the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) at the Jakarta Martial Arts Extravaganza (JMAE) 2025, which brought together three martial arts sports such as Wushu, Muay Thai, and Pencak Silat.
This event is scheduled to take place from April 30 to May 4, 2025 at Baywalk Mall, Jakarta, as part of efforts to strengthen the development of young national athletes.
JMAE 2025 is one of the first events in Indonesia to apply the principle of Green Sports, namely the practice of organizing sports events that are oriented towards environmental conservation.
In its implementation, waste management is carried out through an integrated sorting and processing system, in collaboration with Waste4Change, and environmental impacts are also calculated in the form of waste volume and carbon emission estimation.
This effort is in line with the Indonesia Asri campaign, an environmental education and collaboration program run by the Chandra Asri Group since 2023, which aims to instill a culture of sorting waste from its source and encouraging a circular economy in the community.

This sports festival was born from cooperation between the private sector, national sports organizations, and provincial administrators of the Indonesian Wushu sports (WI), Muaythai Indonesia (MI), and the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) in Jakarta. They work together to ensure the technical smooth running of matches in each branch.
Director of Legal, External Affairs & Circular Economy Chandra Asri Group, Edi Rivai, said this kind of collaboration shows that national sports development can go hand in hand with concern for the environment.
"We are committed to supporting the development of young Indonesian talents, as well as introducing the concept of sustainability in the world of sports. Through this collaboration, we want to show that the progress of national sports achievements can run in line with the responsibility to the environment. We present the Indonesian Asri campaign to form a culture of sorting waste and strengthening the implementation of a circular economy in society," said Edi.
Similarly, the General Chairperson of the Central KONI, Lt. Gen. Retired TNI. Marciano Norman, expressed his appreciation for the support of various parties. He emphasized that events such as JMAE 2025 prove that sports and attention to environmental sustainability can be developed together to provide sustainable benefits for national development.
"Through this event, we are not only focused on fostering national athletes to excel in international events, but also introducing the concept of Green Sports, proving that environmental sports and concern can go hand in hand, making a positive contribution to national life and development," he explained.
