JAKARTA - The first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was printed in 1997, has now become a rare book. This even makes the novel priced fantastically.

The first edition of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone novel was printed by only 500 books. On Saturday, February 8, 2025, one of the novels sold for 18 thousand pounds sterling or around Rp364 million after auctioning.

Quoting from Standard.co.uk, the novel was sold by NLB Auctions, which is centered in Paignton,ANGle, England. The novel features a Philosopher's' spelling error on its back cover, and 1 magic stick is listed twice on the list of equipment on page 53.

The author's JK Rowling debut novel was originally predicted to sell for between 20,000 and 30 thousand pounds. The novel is described by auctioneers as a great example of a very rare first edition, with slightly weathered conditions.

In addition, the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the initial thin cover edition of another novel, which featured some damage to the back of the book and cover, was also sold. The novel sells for 1,300 pounds sterling or around Rp26 million.
