Big Project, Buya Hamka Film Starring Top Artists Across Generations

JAKARTA - Buya Hamka biopic is one of the films that takes a long time to work on. The pre-production process of the film is up to four years. The movie star who raised the story of Buya Hamka is also not mediocre.

Buya Hamka starred famous artists across generations, including Vino Bastian, Mawar De Jongh, Dessy Ratnasari and Laudya Chintya Bella, Dony Damara, Reza Rahadian, Ayu Laksmi, Mathias Muchus, Wafda, Rey Bong, Anjasmara, Beby Tsabina, and many other artists.

The director of Buya Hamka, Fajar Bustomi, said he was happy to be relieved after finishing the film. Filming this became the longest one for Fajar.

"Alhamdulillah very happy finally Buya Hamka film can be resolved. There's a lot of stories in the making. The filming process is approximately 65 days of filming, the longest film I have ever made during my career as a director starting in 2015 with Starvision and when I joined Falcon 2018," he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, April 13.

Laudya Chintya Bella is optimistic that Buya Hamka will be a film that will be remembered forever. "This movie is very epic. This film is not only a year or two remembered, but until the grandchildren later this film remains. It's a really historical film," she said.

Meanwhile, Desy Ratnasari, who plays Safiyah, admitted to finding difficulties with Padang dialect that she had to do while filming Buya Hamka. "I definitely experienced language challenges in this film. But luckily I was given 2 language trainers who would teach us Padang dialects and languages during filming," she said.
