KARAWANG - Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN launched the Asuh Prevent Stunting (GENTING) Parents Movement. The launch of this program was carried out as well as a visit from the Minister of Trade and Culture/Head of BKKBN, Wihaji, to Mulyasari Village, Karawang, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

"Today online for 32 simultaneous provinces, which are in Papua, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Java, Sumatra, participated in the launching of GENTING for 1 million children in Indonesia," said Wihaji during the launching of GENTING in Mulyasari Village, Karawang, Thursday, December 5, 2024.

GENTING is an aid movement for families at risk of stunting through the concern of the parties as foster parents being part of efforts to prevent and accelerate stunting reduction. Foster parents (OTA) are parties who act as aid providers consisting of elements of the government, local governments, BUMN, BUMD, individuals/individuals, NGOs/communities, the private sector, universities/academics and the media.

As is known, the prevalence of stunting according to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) data was recorded at 21.5 percent, with 8.7 million Stunting Risk Families (KRS). This figure must be lowered to 18 percent in 2025, and GENTING is one of the steps to reduce it.

Wihaji said that GENTING activities did not use the State Budget and Expenditure Revenue (APBN). This activity is a draft Kemenduk bangga/BKKBN that collaborates with various parties, one of which is the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

"This program is non-APBN, but the state also helps. This is a collaboration that involves many parties to work together to overcome it. We synergize together," said Wihaji.

Through this GENTING activity, it is hoped that toddlers at risk of stunting will receive assistance for improving nutrition and health. Likewise, families who have toddlers are at risk of stunting getting education and other assistance for empowering families, which will prioritize families at risk of stunting who are poor.
