AI Victim, Agency Denies Dex 'Single's Inferno Becomes An Advertising Star For Online Gambling Games

JAKARTA - Dex or Kim Jin Young is currently one of the well-known figures in South Korea. As one of the participants of the Single's Inferno show, his charisma is so interesting that he becomes an actor and a television star.

Recently, his popularity brought him negative news. He became a victim of a deepfake video used for an online gambling game advertisement.

The video clip spread showing Dex looking outside of his car. The online gambling game ad is called Dex as the main star. Gambling is an illegal act in South Korea.

Not long after, Dex's agency, Kick The Hurdle Studio, issued a statement containing denial that their artist was the star of an online gambling advertisement. They also said Dex's image was processed with AI so that it could match the ad video.

Recently, an advertisement containing the artist Dex was spread through social media and the online community including YouTube and so on. The ads are used for online gambling games and use AI deepfake technology," the agency said on Friday, August 23.

The agency also confirmed it would protect their artists and continue to monitor the development of this case. They will not remain silent seeing their artists involved with online gambling.

"We will do our best to maintain the artist's rights and continue to monitor this in the future," the agency said.

Dex has appeared on a number of television shows in Korea in 2021, but his name has become famous after becoming a contestant in Single's Inferno in 2023.

This year, he is a member of a number of events, namely League of Universities, My Name is Gabriel, Fresh off the Sea, The Zone: Survival Mission 3, and stars in a series and film titled Tarut.
