JAKARTA - Actor Nicolas Cage will play NFL legend John Madden in a biopic directed by David O. Russell. The film is titled Madden which is the athlete's last name.
John Madden was the coach of the Ryu Raiders team in the 70s who led the group until they won the Super Bowl for the first time. Madden was a commentator for a 30-year television football show.
He decided to retire from training in 1979. His name became a franchise for a video game called Madden NFL and was involved in consultation despite retiring.
John Madden died at the age of 85 in 2021.
"Nicolas Cage, one of our original and greatest actors will play the American spirit of originality, pleasure, and determination as long as everything is not impossible as a legend of John Madden," Russell quoted Variety as saying.
"Together with Al Davis's style, focus, and individualism, the owner ofâolahraga Raiders, the film will tell John Madden's happiness, humanity and genius," he said.
