Not Third, Michelle Yeoh Will Join In Avatar 4

JAKARTA - James Cameron straightened the news about Michelle Yeoh joining the Avatar franchise. In 2021, the late producer Jon Landau said the actress would join Avatar 3.

Currently, James Cameron is filming for the film Avatar: Fire and Ash, which is the third film of the franchise. The fourth film is also included in the production process even though it has only been released in the next few years.

Cameron confirmed that Michelle Yeoh will only join the fourth and fifth films Avatar, not the third film as Landau calls.

"Michelle Yeoh is not in (the) third. She will be in the fourth and fifth films," said James Cameron, launching Entertainment Tonight.

"So there is a slight misunderstanding. He will join forces to do his part, which is interesting, a fun character," he explained.

Furthermore, James Cameron explained that the years-long planning process made progress often change.

"We're too advanced now. This project has been planned for years. The script has been written a few years ago to the fifth film. So we're working on the fourth part because we have young cast. We have to record them when they're young," said James Cameron.

"We love Michelle. She is a film star, but she is a huge phenomenon. I'm looking forward to working with her," he said.

Michelle Yeoh was announced to join the franchise in 2019. She will play Dr. Karina Mogue, but her appearance will appear in her fourth film.
