Morgan Oey And Zulfa Maharani Star In Paul Agusta's New Film, Spirit Wedding

JAKARTA - Entekeley Media together with Relate Films announced the cast of director Paul Agusta's latest film, Spirit Wedding. The film, which also has another title The Butterfly House, will start production this month.

The spirit marriage tells the story of a different racial couple, namely a Chinese-Indonesian man named Salim with an indigenous woman named Tasya who is holding a pre-wedding photo shoot at her ancestral home, namely Salim's aunt because her aunt had just died.

Salim also had to undergo a ritual of burning ornaments at a mysterious altar in order to avoid being threatened. However, their lives were in danger when they met ancestral spirits in the form of Indonesian Chinese brides who harbored tragic stories in the past.

"With the approach to Chinese culture and traditions in Indonesia which is not widely raised to the big screen, we hope this film can provide a new and memorable horror experience for the audience", said director Paul Agusta.

We believe that a cultural and historical background naturally fused in a story can create an authentic experience without being forced. With Paul Agusta's signature touch and close collaboration with Relate Films, we believe this film will be quite memorable for the audience," said Aldo Swastia as the scriptwriter.

Morgan Oey and Zulfa Maharani became the main characters, along with Jourdy Pranata, Brigitta Cynthia, Puty Sjahrul, Ama Gerald, Alam Jaelani, Verdi Solaiman, and Bonita.

"I am very enthusiastic about being involved in this film. Apart from the Chinese tradition background raised in this story, the characters I play are also very interesting," said Morgan Oey.

Spirit marriage is Paul Agusta's latest work after directing the film Onde Mande in 2023.

The film Pernikahan Spirit is planned to air in 2025.
