Project Silence Film Review: Standard Premis With Extreme Explosion

JAKARTA - Many Korean films are eagerly awaited by fans, especially South Korean cinema lovers, one of which is the Project Silence film. Films that have been premiered at Cannes in 2023 can actually only be shown publicly this year.

Project Silence presents a series of high-end actors including the late Lee Sun Kyun. This film became his last work before he breathed his last at the end of 2023.

Project Silence tells the story of Cha Jung Won (Lee Sun Kyun), a head of security at the Presidential Palace who takes his son to the airport for overseas schools. In the middle of the trip, they saw accidents in a row due to thick fog.

Cha Jung Won's journey to the airport was hampered because he had to find a way out of the situation. On the other hand, a number of people who had an accident also died from a surprising attack that was just discovered by Cha Jung Won.

On the other hand, there is Joe Park (Ju Ji Hoon), a taxi driver who works odd jobs. After the incident with Cha Jung Won, he intended to find Jung Won to collect his rights but instead he found something else that threatened him and his dog.

Project Silence has thriller and survival genres that many Korean films may encounter, with an incident background and gathering from various people for their respective purposes. They try to survive in all situations.

The tension had occurred from the start, starting from moments that were shocking to emotional. Interestingly, in the midst of the seeds of tension, Kim Tae Gon as the director still took the time to slip the comedy moment.

The comedy section is held by Joe Park, played by Ju Ji Hoon with an eccentric appearance. The tense action between Joe and Cha Jung Won is sometimes serious but looks more comedy.

As for Lee Sun Kyung, his role here is also found in several other projects, namely a father who has to release his son to school. He has a conflict of interest that makes him have to come up with a plan to survive this situation.

This film also uses the CGI effect for some extreme scenes that sometimes look not good. However, his efforts to present a villain who has empathy should also be appreciated.

The film Project Silence comes as a thrilling thriller even though the story is standard. This is recognized thanks to the acting of the players who performed interestingly.

The Project Silence film will be released in Indonesian cinemas starting July 12, 2024.
