Ivan Gunawan Apologizes After The Joke Of The Saipul Jamil Harassment Case

JAKARTA - Ivan Gunawan apologized after making a joke regarding the sexual abuse case committed by Saipul Jamil. The apology was shared in a video uploaded through his personal Instagram account.

This started when Ivan Gunawan held an open house at his home during Lebaran. He distributes money to those who can answer his question.

One of the questions is who sexually harassed and the guests present answered Saipul Jamil who was also present at the event.

When the video circulated, Ivan Gunawan was highlighted for making jokes related to the molestation case and Saipul Jamil was proven wrong in the case. The guests were also seen laughing when they heard the joke.

"I admit that I was wrong about the circulation of videos that have been circulating on social media for the past few days. I am aware that the jokes in the video are jokes that I shouldn't have done and happened, let alone posted," said Ivan Gunawan via his latest video on Instagram.

"On this occasion, I also want to apologize to all the people who watched the video. And especially for friends who have experienced sexual violence," he said.

Ivan Gunawan expressed his apology once again to the public for this. He admitted he was wrong and could not make that exception.

"I know it is very difficult to forget every problem you have experienced. Once again I apologize," said Ivan.

"I admit that I was wrong. This is a big mistake, and it's not a defense joke. I'm completely wrong. Hopefully I can be wiser & learned a lot from the mistakes I've made," concluded Ivan Gunawan.

The post received a response from fellow artists and netizens.

"The problem is that Saiful Jamil's answer and laughing there.. some jokes are mean to be made and answered. It's not illegal but it's against social issues and norm," wrote Deddy Corbuzier.

Saipul Jamil was found guilty after sexually abusing a 17-year-old man. He was also named guilty after giving bribes to the panel of judges for the case he faced.
