Aplastic Anemia That Attacks Babe Cabita: Causes, Symptoms, And Early Detection

JAKARTA - Dr. Ngabila Salama, a public health practitioner, explained that an aplastic anemia is a condition that occurs when the spinal cord fails to produce three main types of blood cells: red blood cells (eritocytes), white blood cells ( lukussites), and blood plate (thrombocytes). He explained that this condition rarely occurs and is difficult to recognize.

"This condition is very rare, less than 15,000 people per year in Indonesia or five cases per 100,000 population, making it difficult to recognize the symptoms," said Ngabila.

Dr. Ngabila explains several causes of aplastic anemia, including genetic factors, infectious or non-communicable diseases, chemotherapy and radiotherapy effects in cancer, autoimmune, consumption of drugs or chemicals, and other infections.

Symptoms commonly experienced by people with aplastic anemia include fatigue, lethargic, slow to think, easy to get sick and susceptible to infectious infections, and easily bruised or outgoing due to lack of platelets in the blood.

Dr. Ngabila suggested that people carry out early detection and early access to treatment to prevent worsening symptoms. Regular health screening needs to be done to detect this condition earlier.

One of the early detection programs provided by the government is the program of prospective brides and examination of pregnant women. For children with a history of canceric descent, it is recommended to carry out regular blood screening with a complete hematology examination.

"In addition to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it's a good idea to immediately have a free complete blood check with BPJS at the nearest or independent health center," said Dr. Ngabila.
