Sins That Are Not Accompanied On The Night Of Nisfu Sya'ban, Muslims Must Know

YOGYAKARTA - Nisfu Sya'ban Night is one of the special moments in Islam. Muslims are always looking forward to the middle night of the month of Sya'ban as the time for forgiveness of sins. But it is important to know that there are also sins that are not forgiven on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban.

Nisfu Sya's night is called a special night because at this time there are many virtues that Muslims can get. Nisfu Sya'ban's night is also known as lailatul maghfirah or night of forgiveness. It is believed that on that night Allah SWT will forgive all human sins.

That is why in Islamic faith, Nisfu Syaban's night becomes a noble night after Lailatul Qadar's night. So when is Nisfu Syaban's night and what are his priorities for Muslims?

Nisfu Sya' night as the evening of forgiveness is mentioned in the hadith narrated by Imam At-Thabrani and Ibnu Hibban from Muadz bin Jabal. The following is the Word Rasulullah saw described in the hadith:

Why don't you think about it? Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.

Meaning: 'Allah views all His creatures on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban then forgives their sins except for musyrik sins and sins of tyranny that cause division.'

Nisfu Sya'ban's night is explained as the night of forgiveness for sins, so Muslims are encouraged to carry out sunnah practices such as prayer and praying a lot. Although the quality of the hadith above is dha'if or weak, it can still be practiced because it is related to fadhailul a'mal. This is the opinion of the majority of hadith scholars mentioned by Imam An-Nawawi in his Taqrib book.

When entering the night of Nisfu Sya'ban, Muslims are encouraged to increase their prayers as a practice. This is based on the hadith of Abu Bakar's history that the Prophet Muhammad said:

'(Religious) Allah descends to earth on the night of nisfu Sya'ban. He will forgive everything except musyrik sins and people in his heart with hatred (naughty),' (HR Al-Baihaqi).

But in addition to its virtue as the night of forgiveness for sins, on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban, it was also explained that there were two sins that were not forgiven by Allah. The sin that was not forgiven on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban was a big sin in the form of musyrik acts or amension to Allah and acts of hypocritical that caused division.

According to Sayyid Muhammad bin Alawi al-Maliki, the sins classified as big sins will not be forgiven on the eve of Nisfu Sya'ban and other nights of forgiveness. The sins such as syirik and hypocriticals must be avoided both on the eve of Nisfu Sya'ban, asyhurul Jeram, the month of Ramadan, and the nights of other forgivenesss.

This is based on the hadith history of Bukhari, Tirmidzi, and An-Nasa'i from Ibnu Mas'ud:

Abdullah bin Mas'ud asked, O Prophet of Allah, what sin is the heaviest? Then the Prophet replied, Make something an equation of Allah that has created you (syrik).

Another type of sin that will not be forgiven on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban is disobedience to parents and adultery. These sins will also not be forgiven other nights such as asyhurul eratm and Ramadhan.

'Then Abdullah said, 'Moreover, O Prophet?' The Prophet replied, 'Kill my people because you are afraid that he will eat with you.' Abdullah asked again, 'What else is it, O Prophet?' You committed adultery with your wife.' Hadith is Bukhari's history, Tirmidzi, and An-Nasa'i from Ibnu Mas'ud.
