JAKARTA - Novel by Ika Natassa, Heartbreak was adapted to the big screen by presenting high-class acting actors, namely Reza Rahadian, Laura Basuki, and Chicco Jerikho. As director Angga Dwimas Sasongko said that the selection of the cast in the film Heartbreakprime was carried out very carefully in accordance with the level of complexity and characterization of the novel.

"I've been a director for almost 20 years. For me, the ensambel of this film is heavyweight. I will have the opportunity to work with the best Indonesian actors who have shown capacity and have international recognition. I am very proud to be able to introduce the main characters in this film," said director Angga Dwimas Sasongko, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, December 6.

There is one character that develops to have several worlds and for the first time a format like this is written by Ika Natassa. Visually, this is very challenging to be lifted to the big screen. The first thing to do is to find the right players. Seeing how the characters here have extraordinary complexity and depth, this film should not be played by actors carelessly," Angga explained his plan for the film Heartbreaking

On the same occasion, the novelwriter of Heartbreak Total Ika Natassa appreciated the collaboration with Visinema this time. He admitted that the work, which was launched in April last year, was classified as different from previous works in a creative approach, story delivery, and characterization.

Therefore, according to Ika, Heartbreaking must be in the hands of someone with an advanced view so that they can take various new approaches.

This will be my film that is not like the previous adaptations. I found it from Angga because his approach is very progressive, however, it fits perfectly with the story. As a writer, I am very happy because I will get something fresh and new," said Ika.

So far, Ika has also admired Angga Dwimas Sasongko's way of directing. According to him, films with Angga's touch of hand are always different and have their own values.

"It's been a long time since I've worked together and Alhamdulillah to match in this film. When reading the script that was done, we knew that this was not arbitrary. I've read the most brilliant script, different approaches, as well as the scene process, as well as the characterization that I can't imagine," he added.

Regarding the selection of the main cast, Ika believes that the three actors Reza Rahadian (as Reza Malik), Laura Basuki (as Ava Alessandra), and Chicco Jerikho (as Raga) are the perfect choices for Heartbreaking

The figure of Raga is a sweetheart who has something to do with Chicco. Alhamdulillah he is willing and the schedule fits. Then, Ava's character is an Indonesian film star with its own charm. How many Indonesian actresses are like that here? Maybe a lot. We invite Laura Basuki for a screen test and the results are like real shooting results, the way she executes scenes from the usual, extreme, and extraordinary subtiles," Ika explained.

Meanwhile, Reza Rahadian, Ika continued, was the right person to play the character Reza Malik who was described as having different personalities.

For me, the first name that appeared was Reza Rahadian. I contacted him when he was in Busan to invite him to join and he asked to be sent a script. When we read and brought together the three of them, I am so sure that God willing, this will give a new color in Indonesian romance in a different way," said Ika closing the explanation.

The production process for the film Heartbreaking will begin in January. The film will apply a unique production method because it combines three different film formats, namely digital, 16 millimeter celluloid films, and 35 millimeter celluloid films.
