Director Reveals How Strays Film Presents Acting Dogs

JAKARTA - Director Josh Greenbaum will come with his latest film entitled Strays. This comedy film has a story of dogs who can speak and live like humans.

The trailer shared by Universal Pictures shows how dogs are realizing their revenge. In addition, this film also features adult scenes by dogs.

Josh Greenbaum as the director revealed that there are several ways he uses to get these actor dogs to act. Greenbaum doesn't want Strays to look like a dog film in general.

We got what we wanted. One of my favorites is the bulge dog. We contacted Josh Gad and I think the choice between him being offended or not and he's interested," Josh Greenbaum told EW.

"But it's not just about the genre of dog films, it's about the behavior of dogs as a whole. I've had dogs and I thought why they like to rotate before bed, and they wake up like that's the wrong position," he said.

Then he recorded his voice, then filmed with the actor's dog. He was assisted by a professional coach who made the dog really do his behavior in the film Strays.

"The coaches show me they (dogs) can show an emotional side, for example seven different types of roads. Oh, that's just the way, but if I'm human, I can show my pace like I'm slow, I'm nervous, I see around? They practice it with dogs until I see it like it's real," he said.

Greenbaum also confirmed that no CG was used while filming with the dogs. This is what makes the film Strays even more real.

The 95 percent of the films are the appearance of real dogs, which of course is important to me. I think it's getting more and more real, especially for an adult audience, getting funny," Greenbaum said.

"There was a scene when my head looked down and looked up because he felt embarrassed, and it really showed human emotions that we could see through a dog," he continued.

"They really show natural dog behavior, and I think it enhances the film more than children's films," Greenbaum said again.

Strays tells the story of Why (Will Ferrell) who is looking for a way to return home and take revenge on his abusive owner, Doug (Will Forte). Not alone,men form a group with the surrounding dogs, namely Bug (Jamie Foxx),bully (Isla Fisher), and Hunter (Randall Park).

Film Strays akan tayang di bioskop Indonesia mulai 18 Agustus 2023.
