The Movie Glo, Kamu Cahaya Is Made To Show Papua's Progress

JAKARTA - Bhuana Art Sinema production house is ready to show its newest film production, Glo, Kau Cahaya. This film is the debut feature-length film for director Ani Ema Susanti, who won a Citra Award in the Best Documentary Film category.

Ema was satisfied, after a long wait, she finally had the opportunity to direct her first feature film. "From within myself, I've been waiting for 15 years. I've always been waiting for my dream to make my feature directorial debut, when will it be, until I can finally join this film, I'm very happy," said Ani Ema Susanti at a press conference at the Arosa Hotel, South Tangerang, Monday, February 27, 2023.

Meanwhile, M. Hamka Handaru as the executive producer said that the film Glo, Kau Cahaya is a form of appreciation for Papua. He considered that Papua and its people have now developed far. "With this film, we want to give a legacy to the people of Papua," said Hamka.

By raising the story of an athlete's struggle, he also wanted to show Papua's progress which has successfully held two national sports events, namely PON XX Papua 2021 and PEPARNAS XVI Papua 2021.

Hamka also has another reason for wanting to feature Papua in this film project. When he was active as a member of the Indonesian Air Force, he visited the land of Papua and had his own impressions.

"I served 23 years in the Indonesian Air Force, and from 1996 I have been to Papua. As soon as I retired, I got the opportunity to work again in Papua. For me there is one thing, I have to make something for Papua," said Hamka.

Glo, Kau Cahaya itself tells the story of the struggle of a swimming athlete who tries to get up from hardship. Gloria's days were filled with deep sorrow and pain. She felt that the victory she had previously achieved and was in her hands when she became a gold medalist athlete in the swimming Olympics, had become useless.

Gloria tries to get through the days that will never be the same, to move on or stop and regret it with grandmother Isy and her three best friends, Julvri, Idho, and Eliza.

The film stars Kevin Royano as Julvri, Tatyana Akman as Gloria, Ratna Riantiarno as Grandma Isyi, Monalisa Sembor as Eliza, Mamat Alkatiri, Wulan Guritno, Cak Percil, Dani Aditya and Putri Nere. Glo, Kau Cahaya will be broadcasted simultaneously in Indonesian cinemas on March 9, 2023.
