Realizing Ustaz Jefri Al Buchori's Dream, Abidzar Al-Ghifari Charged With The Main Film Ballad Si Roy

JAKARTA - Abidzar Al-Ghifari admitted that he felt burdened when he got the main role as Roy in the film Ballad Si Roy directed by Fajar Nugros. Apparently Abidzar's late father, Ustaz Jefri Al Buchori alias Uje, had wanted to star in Roy's character if the story of the novel Ballad Si Roy was appointed into a film.

Now, Abidzar finally realized his father's desire to play Roy. When he learned that he had succeeded in Roy's role, Abidzar also said that he was shocked and did not expect to get the role.

"When I heard that, I was surprised because I never thought of it for me at all that my father would become Roy before. And what I felt (getting Roy's role), I was happy," said Abidzar.

"Alhamdulillah. It turns out that this is how the world works. It turns out that God has linked everything to me. Umi's response is also happy because seeing this is also a benefit for me," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, December 16.

The film Ballad Si Roy will soon be released in all cinemas on January 19, 2023. Apart from Abidzar, this film will also be played by Zulfa Maharani, Bio One, Febby Rastanty, Omara Esteghlal and many more.

Initially, the role was left to Bio One. However, fate said otherwise. Director Fajar Nugros changed his choice.

"Honestly, this is a very burden for me. Because I don't feel like myself being ready for big roles like this. Remember when Mas Fajar said 'I challenge you to be the main character'. There I thought very well, but with a heart that I'm ready, I accept it," said Abidzar when met at Epicentrum XXI, South Jakarta, Thursday.

On the other hand, director Fajar Nugros also told about his decision to change when he heard the word "Assalamualaikum" from Abidzar.

"As far as I remember, Santi and I were looking for Roy's actor. The process took a long time. Actually, his first role was Bio One. We chose him to be Roy. It's been locked," said Fajar.

"But on that day, Abidzar was casting in the casting room. After casting he stopped by my room with Santi, he wanted to say goodbye. He was at the door to say 'Assalamualaikum', and my slowmotion went to the door. It was like Roy's voice," he added.

After thinking about this overnight, finally Fajar and the producer Susanti Dewi decided to change Roy's role to play by Abidzar.

Before deciding on this, Fajar also said that he had a chance to chat with Abidzar to convince himself that Roy's role was appropriate for Abidzar.

"That was one night Santi and I thought about it and finally I asked for my casting director to call Abi. If he intends, he can definitely come in 45 minutes. And it really came. Finally I chatted with him, finally I asked for a screen test and finally agreed with Santi, who is Abidzar. Through Assalamualaikum, "explained Fajar.
