Timo Tjahjanto Calls The Big 4 Becomes The Freshest Film Of His Work

JAKARTA - Director Timo Tjahjanto presents his latest film entitled The Big 4. This film is his second collaboration with Netflix after The Night Comes For Us in 2018.

Since it was first announced, Timo said this film will be something different from his other works. The reason is, The Big 4 is an action comedy genre and stars a number of actress actors and newcomers.

This can be said to be a favorite film that I made because they (the players) gave 110 percent. I feel they believe in this project. Even though I know some things are unusual with comedy, they want to be extra for the sake of this film," Timo Tjahjanto said at a press conference today, Thursday, December 15.

In addition, Timo also said that The Big 4 was a way for him to show the beauty of Indonesia by telling his story. Although the story tells the story about the actions of the killers, his background is to take the island of Bali which looks bright.

From the first, I wanted something fresh from the beauty of Indonesia. I want to create a collection of areas of Indonesia that are tropical," he said.

"Even though it's fictional, taking elements from Bali and Timor has its own color and also with my initial mission, I want to introduce Indonesia," explained Timo.

Another new thing is the comedy side that Timo rarely shows in his films. However, Timo also still brings the dynamics he always tries to present.

"I've always liked the dynamics of my family. Here are the characters who are actually the mismatches between Topan, Dina, Alpha, Jenggo, Pelor but they are under the figure of a father," said Timo.

I'm happy because The Big 4 has many improvisations. Sometimes the director wants comedy to be limited but The Big 4 is fun because they are welcome," said Arie Kriting, playing Jenggo.

"I really want to feel Pak Timo's cooperation. Only now is comedy, so how do I meet his expectations. I'm always ready for challenges," added Marthino Lio.

Rusli Eddy as Content Lead Netflix Indonesia explained that The Big 4 can be a fresh action comedy dish as well as meaningful. Moreover, this film is directed by a Timo Tjahjanto who has a lot of struggling on the Slasher.

Maybe a lot of people saw Timo bleeding but he was a funny person. Actions are rarely made, especially comedy acts, so this is something new. It's a bloody mess," said Rusli Eddy.

The Big 4 tells the story of a former hitman who tries to keep the advice of his dead mentor. Until one day the mentor's son came to find the truth of his father's death.

The Big 4 film will be released on Netflix Indonesia today, Thursday, December 15 at 15.00 WIB.
