Mank Exceeding David Fincer's Standard Will Show On Netflix December 4th

JAKARTA - Mank, director David Fincher's latest work will be shown on Netflix on December 4, 2020. A date to look forward to.

A few days ago, Netflix released a movie trailer. The two-minute 48-second trailer opens with a short narrative explaining the character of Herman J. Mankiewicz, the writer of the legendary film script Citizen Kane (1941).

Mank's story will cover Mankiewicz's career, with Gary Oldman in the lead role. The trailer also reveals how Mankiewicz asked people to change his nickname to "Mank".

Mankiewicz is also described as a figure who knows no nonsense. Another scene in the trailer also hints that Mankiewicz had a career as a theater critic before turning into a screenwriter.

"Hollywood in the 1930s was reevaluated through the eyes of the alcoholic social critic and scriptwriter, Herman J Mankiewicz, as he struggled to finish the Citizen Kane script for Orson Welles," says Mank's synopsis.

This project is special to Fincher. Mank marks his return to the world of film after more than six years of producing no works, with Gone Girl (2014) being his final work.

Within Mank, Fincher also worked on script writing. Fincher continued the script that his father, Jack, had written before he died in 2003.

Quoted by NME, script writer for The Social Network (2010) - another Fincher film, Aaron Sorkin said that Mank is a really cool film.

"Written by Fincher's father, who is a brilliant writer. However, David also directed this film with an extraordinary. This film is even extraordinary by David Fincher's standards," said Sorkin as quoted by NME, Saturday, October 24.

Apart from Fincher, the spotlight is also in Gary Oldman. The actor is said to give an extraordinary appearance Sorkin in this film. Even with Lily Collin and Amanda Seyfried.
