JAKARTA – The prestigious contest for young talents from the country titled Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) Season 2 has found a winner. They are Mad Elephant from the music category and Arief Hadinata from the visual art category, who won 1st place and received prizes worth Rp. 100 million each. Not only that, they also had the opportunity to perform at the Supermusic NEXTZone Live 360 Virtual Concert.

Supermusic representative Nathaniel W Utomo said the winners of Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) Season 2 from the music and visual art categories were the best from the jury's point of view, namely Rekti Yoewono, Ronald Steven, and Nadia Yustina in the music category, and Oom Leo, Popo Mangun, Hana Madness, Bunga Fatia, and Streoflow in the visual art category. The improvement in the quality and variety of the work of the finalists made the determination of the winner of DTBTNS Season 2 hot.

The announcement of the winner of DTBTNS Season 2 was broadcast live in the final judging phase, Thursday (31/3) on the Supermusic Youtube channel and the Superlive.id website. On that day, the finalists presented their best work in front of the judges to compete for a total prize of Rp. 450 million. Musical and visual art works which were developed by the finalists from the workshop results and challenges from the judges were then assessed directly by the experts to determine the winner.

Rekti Yoewono revealed that the quality and variety of the work of the finalists, as well as the differences in the evaluation criteria of each jury made the debate at the jury table difficult. However, after going through various considerations and finding an agreement, the DTBTNS Season 2 champion was chosen from the music category.

“We determine the eligibility of the winner from the quality of the songwriting and arrangement, the ability to play live and showmanship, as well as the ability to entertain on stage. All finalists have advantages in each of these criteria and have their own qualifications," said Rekti, who has been a DTBSTNS judge for two consecutive years.

This Mooner bass band player hopes that the champions of DTBTNS Season 2 from the music and visual art categories will have a positive spirit to work more broadly with their potential. In addition, Rekti considers that the Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) event must be held again next year, because it is the right place to attract talented Indonesian talents who have not yet emerged to the surface.

"I hope that all the winners can continue to work to optimize the advantages they have successfully demonstrated and hone the skills that they lack when participating in DTBTNS Season 2. I think it is very important that there is DTBTNS Season 3 and hopefully the quality will improve so that it will be more exciting and interesting, even though as a judge maybe It will be more difficult to judge it,” said Rekti, ending with a laugh.

Meanwhile, Mad Elephant felt grateful and proud of their selection as the champion of DTBTNS Season 2 from the music category. Bringing his song 'Spelling Bee' with pop funk arrangements, Mad Elephant's character is so strong with the harmonious blend of each personnel and the sweet sound of female vocals. They managed to win the hearts of the judges as well as a flood of praise for appearing all out and fun on stage during the final judging with choreography and tasteful music.

“What is certain is that we are very happy to be able to perform to the maximum of us and thank God we can become champions. I was really surprised when I found out that the submissions had reached almost 1,000 because the competition was getting tougher, until the final judging round. In the future, we will continue to work and develop our talents. Thank you Supermusic for organizing such a cool event!” said Mad Elephant.

Meanwhile, a young artist from Semarang, Arief Hadinata did not expect to win two titles at once, namely 1st place and favorite winner in the DTBTNS Season 2 event for the visual art category. With his work entitled 'The Frog Missing the Moon', he impressed all the judges by the visuals and stories presented during the final judging. The four judges considered that Arief's work was perfect and flawless in terms of color composition, drawing, stories that were translated visually, and had strong characters.

“Wow, I was really touched and didn't expect to be the 1st place winner plus the favorite winner as well. The other finalists are also no less good and more famous than me. Besides that, qualifying as a finalist, being able to make new friends, and making collaborative works together after this, can get acquainted with the judges and the committee, so it is a matter of pride and cannot be judged by the nominal prize, "said Arief.
