Jared Leto And Anne Hathaway Become Husband And Wife In 'WeCrashed' Series

JAKARTA - In the series, Leto and Hathaway play husband and wife couple Adam Neumann and Rebekah Neumann who founded a workspace provider company with WeWork.

The WeCrashed series captures the company's ups and downs, and details the couple's love story, successes, and mistakes. In 2019, when WeWork first attempted to launch an initial public offering (IPO) with Adam Neumann as chief executive.

The proposed stock sale exploded spectacularly after investors balked at the company's heavy losses, Neumann's management style, and WeWork's governance irregularities.

Leto, who previously played in the film "House of Gucci" (2021), said the transition from his previous role as a fashion businessman Paolo Gucci to a businessman role at WeWork was quite challenging.

"Big character, very, very different character. Just starting with the accent. There's a lot to learn," Leto said, quoted by Reuters, Thursday.

To learn about his character, he admits to having a secret meeting with Neumann without the filmmakers knowing. Leto asked the businessman for advice.

Meanwhile, Hathaway said she was careful not to judge the character Rebekah Neumann she played.

"This is the human we're talking about, and putting ourselves in a position superior to me is meaningless. It's an opportunity to understand other people," she said.

Both Leto and Hathaway said they wanted the story to be fair.

"It was important for me not only to judge, but to really rethink the human side, how complex the people in this series are," said Jared Leto. WeCrashed begins streaming on the Apple TV+ streaming service on Friday, March 18.
