JAKARTA - The band Green Day has canceled a concert scheduled for May 29 at Moscow's Spartak Stadium due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"It is with a heavy heart, given current events, that we feel the need to cancel our upcoming show at Moscow's Spartak Stadium," Green Day said in a statement.

"We are aware that this moment is not about rock shows, it is much bigger than that. But we also know that rock and roll is forever and we feel confident there will be a time and place for us to return in the future. Green Day.

Green Day is the second musician to cancel a show in Moscow. Earlier on Friday (25/2), pop artist AJR also canceled its concert scheduled for October.

According to the artist's website, Songkick and other sources, in Moscow there will be shows from Saint John, Tricky, Disclosure, and Bring Me the Horizon scheduled for March and April.

Meanwhile in May there were concerts of Khalid, OneRepublic, Yungblud, Girl in Red, Judas Priest, Denzel Curry and OneRepublic.

However, these names are only the opening show before entering the busiest period for music festivals, including the Bol festival and two Park Live Festivals featuring Killers, Gorillaz, My Chemical Romance, Iggy Pop and others. In addition, there is also a summer show featuring Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Imagine Dragons, Bjork, and Eric Clapton.

Geoff Meall, a London-based agent for Paradigm Agency, said he had a show due to be going there from next month into the summer. However, this does not seem to be possible.

"Right now, I can't see that show happening. Ukraine is clearly an active war zone so it's impossible to hold a concert there, and with Russia, firstly, every government advises its citizens not to go there except for essential business," Meall said quoted from ANTARA.

"Rock and roll probably wouldn't be considered that way, but more artists don't want to be seen supporting the government's actions at this time," he continued.
