JAKARTA - Johnny Depp will undergo a defamation lawsuit trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, and filming Fantastic Beasts 3 at the same time. How did the actor find a solution?

The Depp-Heard trial schedule will take place from January 11-28, 2021. Meanwhile, the production process for the David Yates-directed film will resume from October to February 2021.

Filming was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as conditions for filming locations, which were mostly in London, had improved, production started again.

"When the Court set a trial date for now and in this case, Mr. Depp understands that Warner Bros. plans to shoot Fantastic Beasts 3 in London well before January 11, 2021," said the court's statement issued by Antara, Tuesday, September 2.

"COVID-19 disrupted studio plans causing repeated delays. With conditions in London somewhat improving, Warner Bros. has now set a shooting schedule that conflicts with the trial date of this case," the statement continued.

On August 21, 2020, Depp requested that the trial be postponed until March and June 2021.

Depp filed a $ 50 million defamation suit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, in 2019 for a report in the Washington Post published in 2018. Heard said she experienced sexual and domestic violence. The case was handled by a court in Virginia.

The court letter also stated that Heard had agreed to meet on September 11 to discuss potential delays and would not presume that the postponements were unfair. Because Heard is reported to be filming for Aquaman 2 next year.

News of Depp's request to postpone the defamation case came nearly a month after he fought The Sun newspaper in a London court. The final decision of the judge will be given as early as this September.
