JAKARTA - Minister of Population and Family Development (Kemenduk bangga) as well as Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Dr. H. Wihaji, S.Ag, M.Pd, made a working visit to Madiun City and Regency. During this visit, Minister Wihaji reviewed various nutritional fulfillment and Family Planning (KB) programs in traditional markets.

The visit began with a review of the Madiun City Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), where Wihaji ensured the distribution of the Nutrition Food Package (MBG) for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. This package was handed over directly to the target houses in Nambangan Lor Village, Manguharjo District. Interestingly, this distribution was carried out using a motorbike with the Family Assistance Team (TPK), as well as having a dialogue with the beneficiary residents.

"We want to ensure that pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers get adequate nutritional intake from an early age as part of efforts to prevent stunting," said Wihaji Wednesday, (26/2/2025).

After that, the group continued their journey to Sukolilo Market, Madiun, to directly review market conditions and interact with traders and visitors. This visit is also part of the 'Market Raid' program, which is the government's effort to bring KB services closer to the community.

"Today we make sure that the Pasar Gerebek program runs smoothly. There are 1,016 traditional markets throughout Indonesia that we visit to ensure that KB services are available more easily. There is no need to bother coming to health facilities, even in the market now they can get free contraception services," explained Wihaji.

He added that various types of contraception, such as injections, IUD, and implants, can be accessed for free. This step is part of the mandate of Law Number 52 of 2009 concerning population control.

In addition to reviewing the market, Minister Wihaji also attended the Simultaneous Opening of KBKR (Reproduction Family Planning and Health) Services throughout Indonesia. This event includes interactive dialogue with Regional Leaders, related agencies, and PT. INKA which plays a role in the "Genting" program (Parental Movement to Prevent Stunting).

The visit ended with a review of the KB service of the Long-Term Contraception Method (MKJP) at the Jiwan Health Center, Madiun, where the Minister had a dialogue with health workers, KB extension workers, and KB acceptors.

Head of the East Java BKKBN Representative, Dra. Maria Ernawati, MM, said that this visit brought new enthusiasm for East Java, especially Madiun, in carrying out family development programs.

"The Minister directly observed the program for fulfilling nutrition, KB services, and empowering the elderly. We hope that this will further encourage the community to actively participate in building quality families, because large nations start from healthy and prosperous families," said Maria Ernawati.

Through this visit, it is hoped that more people will understand the importance of nutrition from an early age, the use of contraceptives for family planning, and empowering the elderly as part of a sustainable family development strategy.
