Heart disease is still a serious threat to the people of Indonesia. This was stated by the Heart Surgery Specialist, Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular (BTVK) as well as the Adult Heart Surgery Consultant at Premier Bintaro Hospital, Dr. Sugisman, SpBTVK (K).

"Heart disease is still a serious threat to public health in Indonesia. Every year, there are around 300 thousand new cases of heart disease with a death rate of 45 percent," said Sugisman at the 2025 Media Tour in Makassar, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 27.

According to him, the high incidence rate and death from heart disease are influenced by various factors, ranging from lifestyle, stress level, to early detection delays.

Heart disease is not only attacking the elderly. More and more patients of productive age are also found, so this is an important warning for all of us to maintain heart health," he said.

In this regard, he emphasized the importance of preventive measures through a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, and periodic health checks.
